„350 Climate Protection Song World Cup/Global Challenges World Cup“ is an innovative global civil society initiative bringing together musician of the world in support of the work of United Nations system (like these days at UNFCCC climate change conference in Copenhagen) and in support of knowledge based responses to global challenges.
The basic idea is that musicians can show leadership regarding global social responsibility and contribute to the development of a global community committed to address effectively global challenges like e.g. the climate change by using means of artistic expression and the power of music.
Based on a „350 Global Challenges Song World Cup“ announcement on 350.org blog www.350.org/about/blogs/announcing-350-global-challenges-song-world-cup on 29th of September 2009 and a „Call for Music“ on the homepage of the initiative „The World Synchronized on 350“ www.glocha.info/glocha350/ we have received 4 songs www.participate.si/350/submitted-climate-change-songs from Spain, Australia, US and US/Germany by end of November 2009.
Now it is your turn! You are invited to listen to the songs and help us with your vote to identify the Winner of „350 Climate Protection Song World Cup 2009“.
Voting is open till 31st of December 2009 24.00 CET at www.participate.si/350 (fyi: in order to mainatin high quality of the voting system and to avoid multiple voting, registration is required for voting)
The „Winner of 350 Climate Protection Song World Cup 2009“ will be announced Monday January 4th 2010 12.00 AM CET on www.participate.si/350 and www.glocha.info/glocha350/.
The winner will receive a certificate and efforts will be made to organiza a performance of the winning group at the social programme of the international conference „Teaching Climate Change and the United Nations“ which is going to be organised by Austrian Science and Research Liaison office Ljubljana in cooperation with several UN institutions and local partners from Southeast Europe in Belgrade in May 2010.
„350 Climate Protection Song World Cup 2009“ is the first implementation and some kind of “Pilot Round” of “Global Challenges Song World Cup” thus it has to be regarded as some kind of work in progress and an open innovation initiative.

- 350.org campaign (350.org is an international campaign dedicated to building a movement to unite the world around solutions to the climate crisis – focusing on the number 350 as in parts per million, the level scientists have identified as the safe upper limit for CO2 in our atmosphere
- Institute for Electronic Participation INePa which has helped us in programming this internet based voting system through which anybody in the world can participate in identifying the next “350 Climate protection Song World Cup winner(s)”.
