Background:
The Concept of Global Challenges, Youth & Information and Communication Technology Centers (in short “GloCha Centers”TM) has been developed by International Association for the Advancement of Innovative Approaches to Global Challenges www.glocha.info, a UN accredited civil society organization based in Klagenfurt, Austria, as a social and technological innovation for youth engagement in global challenges action in the context of the transinstitutional Global Challenges Action network GloCha.
Mission statement
Capacity building and fostering of Entrepreneurship and Action oriented Civic Engagement of Young people in post2015 Sustainable Development Agenda by providing Internet Access, Collaborative Space, advanced Information and Communication Technologies Infrastructure as well as Capacity Building and Knowledge Management Services in partnership with local, national and international private and public partners with particular consideration of United Nations programs and goals.
A particular design element of GloCha centers is their focus on locally and globally coordinated resource mobilization/blended financing (15/15/15 UN Civil Society Resource Mobilization Partnership, Global Challenges Giving Pledge Conference 2016, UN Trust Fund on Local Provision of Global Public Goods, Global Challenges Community Foundations, Global Challenges Foundation Carinthia, ..)
Istanbul can become pioneer and leading competence center on developing quality assurance standards, information exchange protocols and capacity building toolkits for globally connected engagement of local communities and youth in UN programs and goals.
