“Rio+20 Global Youth Music Contest” mini side event at UNFCCC COP 17 in Durban/South Africa 8th December 2011

Rio+20 Global Youth Music Contest’ will be presented on Thursday 8th December 2011 from 11:00am to 11:20am in the framework of a mini side event at the “Climate Change Studio” at Durban Exhibition Centre (DEC) during the COP17 (17th Conference of Parties of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change UNFCCC http://unfccc.int/meetings/durban_nov_2011/meeting/6245.php in Durban/South Africa.

The Rio+20 Global Youth Music Contest is a global competition for young people organized by the International Association for the Advancement of Innovative Approaches to Global Challenges (IAAI) www.glocha.info with a wide number of partners and youth networks from around the world on the occasion of United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) which will be held in June 2012 in Brazil.

GYMC initiative encourages youth to express their hopes, concerns and thoughts on future of our earth through the resonance of music as a powerful expression that incites commitment for sustainable development, climate protection and civic engagement. The contest will collect musical messages from global youth exploring global solutions for sustainable development and the winners will win a trip to Rio de Janeiro to attend the Rio+20 Earth Summit in June 2012.

Rio+20 Global Youth Music Contest has a team of seven partnering global youth representatives attending COP17.

The Rio+20 GYMC mini side event will be moderated by Ella Bella, Rio+20 GYMC National Coordinator for South Africa.

The ‘’Climate Change Studio’’ the UNFCCC secretariat has opened inside the Durban Exhibition Centre (DEC) provides individuals and organizations an opportunity to be interviewed briefly by medias covering the COP17 on their actions, solutions, observations and projects that have impact on climate change or sustainability of our planet. All interviews are filmed, edited and broadcast on Climate Change TV and will be catalogued in a fully searchable database with other interviews from world leaders, expert, decision makers.
